FOR FISHING CHARTERS - I SUPPLY ALL RODS, TACKLE, AND BAIT.
SIMILAR TO PHOTOGRAPHY TOURS, I bring cold water and ice for the day during the warmer months. In the cooler months, I bring hot coffee and hot water for tea. If would like to eat during the day, feel to bring along snacks or I can bring sandwiches from WAWA and your favorite soft drinks for an additional charge. Because of the risk of a fall on the water or at the marina, alcoholc beverages or recreationl drugs are not permitted during our charter.

FISHING CHARTERS - I SUPPLY ALL REQUIRED TACKLE AND BAIT. FOR PHOTOGRAPHY ADVENTURES -I recommend a hard camera case such as a Pelican. I shoot NIKON and ALL my lenses are 2.8 Primes with the exception of my 500mm. For lenses, 500 mm, 70-200, 24-70, 14-24 and MACRO lenses. If you have a flash, it can be used for close ups. In addition, any video equipment is a must. There is room for a tri-pod on the deck. I recommend an extra change of clothes and a full raincoat suit in the event we encounter a thunderstorm. Frog Toggs can be purchased on Amazon for a reasonable price and are lightweight. In addition, sunscreen is highly recommended and long sleeve shirts, long pants and a large hat. Polarized sunglasses are recommended. Bring your own sun screen and insect repellant with high levels of DEET.

NORMALLY we need about ½ hr to 45 nminuters to begin photography or fishing. From Port Of The Islands Marina to the entrance of the 10K Islands is about a 20-25 min idle down the canal. See the maps.

All Charters require a $150 deposit to reserve a date, time, and location. On the day of the Charter the balance is due upon return to the dock in cash, venmo, paypal, or credit cards. Deposits are refundable with 72 hours notice to cancel the charter - e.g. 3 days from the date and time of your charter. In the event you cancel less than 72 hours prior, the deposit is forfeited but may be applied to a future Charter. If for any reason, as Captain I cancel at anytime prior to boarding, I will refund 100% of your deposit.
-
If there is severe rain or thunderstorms, I will make the call to cancel the trip for either fishing or photogrpahy. The reason for your trip is to experience the natural fauna and widlife. In Flamingo and Chokoloskee, the wind is not a major issue as there re many areas to get out of the wind and still take stills and videos. the challenge of the wind is that many times, the birds may not be in large numbers for photograhy. For Drone Flying - I don’t recommend flying, depending on your drone, in more than 15 mph constant winds. For Stiltsville and Greater Miami, wind is not as much of a factor; however, due to a wave chop, you get wet from the spray as we traverse the open waters.
-
Of course, once we decide on a date, time, and location, I will send you full driving and meeting instructions.
-
Yes, in Flamingo there is a new lodge that has a new hotel; however, it’s a bit pricey and is booked weeks in advanced. For Miami, there are many locations and the prices vary by the type of accomodations. For Chokoloskee, there are several small motels that provide clean one night stays. For Port of The Islands, they have a hotel on site and within walking distance to the Marina.
-
No, this is specific customized charter. I do not want to want to have a conflict among people who do not know each other.
-
No, I’m a USCG Licensed Marine Captain. I know my way around Flamingo, Chokoloskee, Biscayne Bay, Upper Keys. These are areas I’ve photographed and where I’ve fished. I know where the critters and creatures live, but, can’t always guarantee they ill be home on every specific day.
-
For PHOTOGRAPHY, Yes, of course, if you would like to see some redfish, snook, or trout up close and capture some fun shots, I always bring fishing tackle along. I have a permit to fish in the parks during our time on the water.
FOR FISHING CHARTERS - THAT’S WHY WE ARE GOING !!!
-
No, due to insurance reasons, I’m not able to allow clients to exit the boat to swim; however, we able to exit the vessel to get on the beach for some specific shots that could be of interest. Within the National Park, it's against the law to remove any fauna, shells, mangroves, etc. from the water or land.
-
This is my primary company which holds all my permits, insurance, and whom you will pay for the Charter. SoFloPhotosNFins is the website.
-
Yes, I carry Charter Lakes Guide Insurance which is required to operate in the National Parks. I hold a local Broward County Business License and my LLC is in Florida.
-
Once we enter the park in the car or truck, or even prior, if we encounter something that you’d like to photograph, we will stop and set up. this includes ponds, birds, gators etc. In the City of Chokoloskee, Florida, there are many historical locations such as the Smallwood Store and the Rod and Gun Club….there are also many marinas and shrimping boats on the Barron River that have character and are fun to photography
-
Sorry, no private toilet, normally out on the water, we either pee over the side or in a bucket (it has a toilet seat)…
-
Depending on the situation, as Captain, I will make our way back to port as fast as safely possible, if there is something severe / life threating, we will contact the USCG to send emergency personnel. I carry a SAT Phone and EPIRB for emergency communications, this is in addition to my ICOM radio and hand held backup.
